Are Candy AI videos real or AI-generated?
The clip is eleven seconds long. A character turns toward the camera, smiles, and for half a beat something about the motion feels off. You rewind, squint and type the question everyone types: is this a real person?
It's AI. The videos in Candy's Shorts feed are AI-generated scenes from pre-written series. They aren't live, and they aren't real actors on a set.
Three ways to read "real"
- Filmed with actors? No. The scenes are AI-generated and pre-written.
- A real person's likeness? Only in creator series, which use licensed AI likenesses of real adult creators. The video is still AI-generated.
- A real company? Yes, as the next part explains.
Is Candy AI itself real?
Yes. Candy AI is operated by EverAI Limited, based in Malta (company no. C107181), and card charges show as "EverAI".
Candy says it is "Trusted by 50 million people worldwide", which is its own marketing claim, not something we've verified. For the full trust check, read is Candy AI safe.
How are Candy Shorts videos made?
Here's what we can say, and what we can't. Every series is pre-written, with a beginning, middle and end, and the scenes are AI-generated. You watch, and you don't steer.
Episodes run under about two minutes, and most series have 5 episodes, though independent reviewers report a few that run up to about 34. Candy hasn't published a walkthrough of its production tools, so we won't name or guess at any.
Why short episodes suit AI video
This part is our read, not a Candy statement. Short clips are easier to keep coherent than long ones, because there's less time for a face or a room to drift. A cliffhanger format also leans on quick cuts and big reactions, and the next episode resets the scene.
That fits the microdrama style popularised by apps like ReelShort and DramaBox, which Candy Shorts applies to adult, AI-generated stories. The Candy Shorts explainer covers the format in full.

What tells give away AI video?
No AI video is perfect, and the tech changes fast, so we won't claim any specific episode has any specific flaw. These are the common tells people look for in AI video in general:
- Floaty motion. Walking, turning and hair movement can look slightly weightless.
- Hands and small objects. Jewelry, cups and phones can change shape or vanish between cuts.
- Drifting details. Background signs, patterns or a character's look can shift from one shot to the next.
- Lip timing. Mouth movement can sit a touch off from the dialogue.
- Too-clean faces. Skin and lighting can look smoother than a camera would give you.
A tell isn't a verdict on quality. It's a reminder of what you're watching, and the pace of a cliffhanger series tends to keep you from staring at it.
What video tools does Candy AI have besides Shorts?
Shorts is one product inside a bigger platform, and it's easy to mix up with the others. When we checked candy.ai on 14 October 2026, Premium's benefits listed generating 18+ videos, generating 18+ images and a "full live action experience". Those are separate from the Shorts feed.
| Feature | What Candy lists | How it differs from Shorts |
|---|---|---|
| Shorts series | Series cards with tags, an episode count and a Play button | Pre-written and watch-only, so you don't control the story |
| 18+ video generation | A Premium benefit | A generation tool, as Candy describes it, not a series someone scripted |
| 18+ image generation | A Premium benefit, plus a Generate Image section | Still images, not episodes |
| "Full live action experience" | Listed under Premium benefits | We haven't verified what it includes, so check candy.ai/subscriptions |
| Chat | Unlimited text messages on Premium; free accounts get a small taste | Interactive text, separate from watching |
Premium also lists 100 tokens a month. You can see how those stack up against plan prices in our Candy AI pricing guide.
Can you change what happens in a Candy AI video?
Not in Shorts. Pre-written and watch-only means there is one version of each episode, and chatting with the featured character afterward doesn't rewrite it. Watching doesn't change your chat history or the character's memory either.
If you want something you steer yourself, that's what Premium's tools are for, as Candy describes them: you can generate 18+ videos and images, and create your own AI girlfriend(s). We haven't documented how they work, so check the plans page and Candy's Help Center before you pay for them.
Are the creator videos real people?
Creator series are the one place a real person is involved. Candy markets them as licensed AI likenesses ("digital twins") of adult creators, and the video itself is still AI-generated.
Reviewers report that creator series cost more tokens to unlock: about 30 per episode against about 12 on regular series. Candy hasn't published how creators are licensed or paid. Our creator digital twins guide covers what is and isn't known.
Why do Candy AI clips and GIFs online look partial?
Clips and GIFs travel further than full episodes, and they're usually fragments: a few seconds trimmed from a longer scene, cropped for a feed or recorded off a screen. A short loop can't carry a story, so it flatters the visuals and tells you nothing about the plot.
The same goes for screenshots of generated images. They're single frames picked to look their best, so judge from the real feed instead.
Independent reviewers report that "leaked" uploads are mostly copies of the already-free episodes or screen recordings of paid ones. Candy's terms allow personal, non-commercial use and prohibit reposting.
Sites promising "free full episodes" are frequently spam, scam gates or malware, so our advice is the boring one: skip them. See what leaked Candy Shorts uploads really are.
How can you see real Candy AI examples for yourself?
The legitimate route is quick, and it's free:
- Open the Shorts feed at candy.ai/candy-shorts, or the Shorts tab in Candy AI's main menu.
- Make a free account with Join Free. One reviewer says the free episodes also play logged out on candyshorts.com.
- Pick two or three series from the cards, using the tags and premise lines.
- Watch episodes 1 and 2 of each, which are reported to be free on regular series.
- Judge the quality yourself before you spend a single token.
Here's a fair test. Watch one episode with the sound on, then again muted with subtitles, first for the story and then for the seams. Two minutes is short enough to do both, and you'll know whether the look suits you before you spend anything.
Our free access guide has the full breakdown. Subtitles are reported in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese, so you can watch with the sound off if you need to.
Quick questions
Can I download Candy AI videos?
Reviewers report there are no downloads on Candy Shorts. Episodes you unlock stay unlocked on your account, so you can rewatch them there. Be wary of sites or apps offering downloads, because they're often spam or malware, and Candy's terms prohibit reposting.
Do Candy AI videos have subtitles?
Reviewers report subtitles in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese. Availability can change, so check the player on a series you want. Each episode runs under about two minutes, so it's quick to test before you spend any tokens.
How long are Candy AI videos?
Each episode runs under about two minutes. Most series have 5 episodes, so a typical series is roughly 10 minutes or less in total, while a few run longer, up to about 34 episodes. These numbers are approximate and come from independent reviewers.
Do the videos change if I chat with the character?
No. Shorts are pre-written and watch-only. After an episode you can open a private chat with the featured character, but watching doesn't change your chat history or the character's memory. Free accounts get only a small taste of chat, and Premium makes text messages unlimited.
How many Candy AI videos are there?
Reviewers counted about 114 series and 657 episodes in late September 2026, and another count found 129 series by 7 October 2026. The catalog is growing, and there's no fixed release schedule. Treat those figures as approximate snapshots, not official totals.
